SSL certificate monitoring

Get warned before your HTTPS certificate expires or breaks.

An expired or broken HTTPS certificate turns the padlock in the browser into a full-page security warning, and visitors leave. SSL monitoring makes sure that never takes you by surprise.

Available on: every plan, including Free.

What it checks

PageWarden inspects your site's certificate and confirms it is valid, trusted, and not about to expire. It watches the expiry date and warns you with enough lead time to renew, so a forgotten renewal never becomes an outage.

Because a certificate is the same wherever you are in the world, this check runs from a single vantage rather than fanning out across regions.

Set it up

SSL monitoring is included automatically when you add a website monitor with an https:// address. There is nothing extra to configure.

Good to know

  • Most certificates renew automatically. This check is your safety net for when that quietly fails.
  • If you use a certificate that renews every 90 days, the early warning gives you time to confirm the renewal actually happened.
